Teen Arts Council

BAM's Teen Arts Council is a group program for teens, ages 14–18, who are interested in art, creativity, museums, and community engagement. The TAC advocates for teen experiences in the museum by planning teen events and curating a teen art exhibition called 20 Under 20. The TAC also has the chance to learn about how museums work behind-the-scenes, by having conversations with staff at the museum and assisting with Youth & Family Programs throughout the year.

TAC meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30–6:00 pm, with a total time commitment of 6–10 hours per month. This is a volunteer position and counts towards high school community service hours. This program requires an application. Applications for the 2024-25 Teen Arts Council will open late-June and will collect applications through August.

For more information about the program, please contact Kathryn Reyes, Youth and Family Programs Coordinator at [email protected] or call 425.519.0734.

Teen Docents

Students ages 14 to 18—Are you passionate about art and interested in working in a museum setting? Bellevue Arts Museum's Teen Docent Program is perfect for teens looking to engage with art, practice public speaking skills, and learn from artists and museum professionals.

The program requires a five month commitment from participants, as they will meet every Wednesday, starting February 28, from 4-5:30 pm., and then put their new skills to work in the spring. Once trained, the teen docents will be on duty in the galleries to engage our visitors with the artwork in BAM's exhibitions. This volunteer position counts toward high school community service hours, and participants can earn between 25–40 volunteer hours.

Applications for BAM's award-winning Teen Docent program are open! For the 2024 school year, we are limiting the class to 20 teens.

Follow the link below to apply! Applications are due by Friday, January 26, 2024.
