About
the Museum

Founded by volunteers in 1975, Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) emerged from the historic PNW Arts & Crafts Fair, first held in 1947. One of few museums born from an arts fair and evolving over decades, BAM opened its permanent home designed by renowned architect Steven Holl in 2001. Exclusively dedicated to art, craft, and design since 2005, the Museum grew to be an important contributor to the region's cultural vibrancy. While the physical building has been sold to KidsQuest Children’s Museum, the Arts Fair at Bellevue Square continues to be a signature community event as part of the Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend co-organized by BAM and Bellevue Downtown Association. BAM will continue to host limited community events and programs.
